Brasília
Brasília är Brasiliens huvudstad och utgör ett eget federalt distrikt (Distrito Federal) på samma administrativa nivå som landets övriga delstater. Det federala distriktet hade över 2,5 miljoner invånare vid folkräkningen 2010, varav cirka 97 procent av befolkningen bodde i själva centralorten.

Dystrykt federalny (okręg federalny) - w państwach o ustroju federacyjnym, jednostka terytorialna podlegająca bezpośrednio władzom centralnym. Obejmuje ona zazwyczaj stolicę federacji w jej granicach administracyjnych.
Przykłady dystryktów federalnych (ich nazwy oryginalne, powierzchnia i liczba ludności):
- Argentyna - Dystrykt Federalny Buenos Aires (Distrito Federal, 200 km²; 2,8 mln mieszk.)
