In a graphical user interface of computers, a dialog box is a type of window used to enable communication or "" between a computer and its user. It may communicate information to the user, prompt the user for a response, or both. A dialog box is most often used to provide the user with the means for specifying how to implement a command, or to respond to a question or an "alert" (see below).

Als Dialogfenster, Dialogfeld, Dialogbox oder einfach Dialog bezeichnet man spezielle Fenster in grafischen oder zeichenorientierten Benutzerschnittstellen.

En informatique, une boîte de dialogue est une fenêtre particulière utilisée par un programme (notamment les installateurs) ou par le système d'exploitation pour informer l'utilisateur d'un évènement en affichant un message à l'écran ou pour que l'utilisateur donne une réponse à une question. Ces fenêtres sont nommées ainsi car elles établissent un dialogue entre l'ordinateur et l'utilisateur, soit pour lui faire part d'une information, soit pour lui demander quelque chose, ou même les deux à la fois. Dans le jargon informatique, on dit qu'une boîte de dialogue est un widget ou un contrôle.

Wyjątkiem są tzw. aplikacje dialogowe, prezentujące ciąg okien dialogowych, takie jak programy instalacyjne lub kreatory.
