Retinal detachment
Retinal detachment is a disorder of the
eye in which the
retina peels away from its underlying layer of support tissue. Initial detachment may be localized, but without rapid treatment the entire retina may detach, leading to
vision loss and
blindness. It is a
medical emergency. The retina is a thin disc-shaped layer of light-sensitive tissue on the back wall of the eye. It translates what we see into
neural impulses and sends them to the brain via the
optic nerve. Occasionally, injury or trauma to the eye or head may cause a small tear in the retina, which allows fluid to seep through, and peel it away like a bubble in wallpaper.

Décollement de rétine
Le décollement de rétine est une maladie rare de l'œil qui se manifeste par une séparation de la
rétine des membranes plus externes du globe oculaire avec lesquelles elle est normalement en contact. Elle peut mener à la
cécité si elle n'est pas traitée rapidement (
urgence ophtalmologique relative). Cette maladie atteint surtout les personnes de 45 à 60 ans, les myopes et les diabétiques.

Distacco della retina
Il distacco della retina (Ablatio retinae) è una
patologia pericolosa dell'
occhio che si presenta in seguito al sollevamento della neuroretina dall'epitelio pigmentato. La neuroretina (costituita dai fotorecettori e tutte le cellule nervose che permettono la trasmissione del segnale visivo)aderisce allo strato dell'epitelio pigmentato, che permette il passaggio di materiali di nutrimento dalla sottostante coroide e la degradazione degli elementi esterni dei fotorecettori.
