Dendritic cells (DCs) are immune cells and form part of the mammalian immune system. Their main function is to process antigen material and present it on the surface to other cells of the immune system, thus functioning as antigen-presenting cells.Dendritic cells are present in small quantities in tissues that are in contact with the external environment, mainly the skin (where they are often called Langerhans cells) and the inner lining of the nose, lungs, stomach and intestines. They can also be found in an immature state in the blood. Once activated, they migrate to the lymphoid tissues where they interact with T cells and B cells to initiate and shape the adaptive immune response. At certain development stages they grow branched projections, the dendrites, that give the cell its name. However, these do not have any special relation with neurons, which also possess similar appendages. Immature dendritic cells are also called veiled cells, in which case they possess large cytoplasmic 'veils' rather than dendrites.

Les cellules dendritiques sont des cellules du système immunitaire qui font partie du système réticulohistiocytaire et qui présentent dans certaines conditions, comme leur nom l'indique, des dendrites (des prolongements cytoplasmiques). Ce sont des cellules phagocytaires, exprimant un large éventail de protéines permettant de détecter la présence de pathogènes et font partie des cellules présentatrices d'antigène. Ces cellules ont pour origine les promonocytes.

Dendritische Zellen sind Zellen des Immunsystems. Sie sind nach ihren typischen Bäumchen-artigen Cytoplasma-Ausläufern (von lateinisch dendriticus "verzweigt") benannt. Dendritische Zellen haben eine wichtige Funktion bei der Antigenprozessierung und Antigenpräsentation. Über Toll-artige Rezeptoren erkennen sie Keimstrukturen und können so die zelluläre Immunantwort steuern. Durch Ausschüttung entsprechender Cytokine und Expression bestimmter Zelloberflächen-Rezeptoren beeinflussen sie die T-Zellen hin zu einer Th1- oder Th2-Antwort oder können z. B. autoreaktive T-Zellen in die  Anergie treiben.

Komórki dendrytyczne (ang. dendritic cell, DC) są jedynymi, uznawanymi powszechnie za profesjonalne, komórkami prezentującymi antygen. Odgrywają one zatem podstawową rolę w pobudzaniu limfocytów, zwłaszcza dziewiczych. Cechą charakterystyczną jest wygląd komórki dendrytycznej, podobny do ciała komórki nerwowej, które posiada liczne, rozgałęziające się wypustki (dendryty) - stąd nazwa. Komórki dendrytyczne mogą być dwojakiego pochodzenia:DC1 - pochodzenie mieloidalne, tutaj zwłaszcza istotne są komórki dendrytyczne wywodzące się z linii monocytarno-makrofagowej; komórki te powodują polaryzację odpowiedzi odpornościowej w kierunku limfocytów Th1DC2 - pochodzenie limfoidalne; wywołują one polaryzację odpowiedzi odpornościowej w kierunku Th2

樹状細胞（じゅじょうさいぼう、dendritic cell）は抗原提示細胞として機能する免疫細胞の一種であり、哺乳類の免疫系の一部を担っている。抗原提示細胞とは自分が取り込んだ抗原を、他の免疫系の細胞に伝える役割を持つ。皮膚組織をはじめとして、外界に触れる鼻腔や肺、胃、腸管に存在し、その名のとおり周囲に突起を伸ばしている。表皮の樹状細胞はランゲルハンス細胞と呼ばれる。抗原を取り込むと樹状細胞は活性化され、脾臓などのリンパ器官に移動する。リンパ器官では取り込んだ抗原に特異的なＴ細胞やＢ細胞を活性化する。樹状細胞は発現している表面抗原分子（CD,cluster of differentiation）によってさまざまなサブセットに分類される。
