Latin (from; out of) and (window or opening), is the act of throwing someone or something out of a
window. The term was coined around the time of an incident in Prague Castle in the year of
1618. In 2004,
Merriam-Webster's dictionary users named "defenestration" as one of their favorite words of the year.
