De facto
De facto (, , ) is a Latin expression that means "concerning fact." In law, it often means "in practice but not necessarily ordained by law" or "in practice or actuality, but not officially established." It is commonly used in contrast to de jure (which means "concerning the law") when referring to matters of law, governance, or technique (such as standards) that are found in the common experience as created or developed without or contrary to a regulation. When discussing a legal situation, de jure designates what the law says, while de facto designates action of what happens in practice. It is analogous and similar to the expressions "for all intents and purposes" or "in fact". The term can also be used in the context of conducting activity as a "matter of course" e.g. copying an individual on an email de facto.

De Facto - zespół tworzący od roku 1998 do roku 2003. Gatunkowo trudny do określenia, styl to generalnie dub, muzyka elektroniczna z wpływami muzyki latynoskiej.
Członkowie:
- Cedric Bixler-Zavala - perkusja, instrumenty perkusyjne, sporadycznie wokal (na EP Grand Royal)
- Omar Rodriguez-Lopez - gitara basowa
- Isaiah Ikey Owens - instrumenty klawiszowe
- Jeremy Michael Ward - efekty dźwiękowe, sample, wokal (zm. 2003)
De Facto spłodził 2 albumy: Megaton Shotblast! oraz How Do You Dub? You Fight For Dub, You Plug Dub In które, według wielu, są fascynującymi kompozycjami muzycznymi.

Standard de facto
Standard de facto (łac. standart faktyczny) to standard lub zbiór zwyczajów i technologii w powszechnym użyciu, który nie jest uznany przez żadną z formalnych organizacji standaryzacyjnych.
Standardy de facto stosuje się kiedy nie istnieje formalny standard, kiedy formalny standard ma poważne wady, lub po prostu z przyczyn historycznych nie jest rozpowszechniony.
Przykłady:
- TCP/IP, podstawowe protokoły Internetu (formalny standard ma poważne wady)
- PostScript w drukarkach laserowych (brak formalnego standardu)
- DOC (z powodu rozpowszechnienia Microsoft Office)
