Dolby Digital Plus (DD+), also known as E-AC-3, is an audio compression system that was developed specifically for the introduction of HDTV and HD DVD/Blu-ray Disc. It is a development of the Dolby Digital (AC-3) audio compression system. It supports data rates up to 6.144 Mbit/s, compared to 0.640 Mbit/s for the original Dolby Digital AC-3 allowing for higher resolution audio to be carried at higher quality. It can carry up to thirteen full range audio channels compared with Dolby Digital's five. The compression algorithm also has a number of improvements aimed at increasing quality at a given bitrate compared with Dolby Digital. The new compression algorithm is not directly backward compatible with AC-3 — existing AC-3 decoders will not be able to decode E-AC-3 streams — but DD+ capable equipment is required to be able to convert E-AC-3 streams to 0.640 Mbit/s AC-3 for compatibility with existing Dolby Digital A/V processors.

dd - uniksowy program do niskopoziomowego kopiowania i konwersji surowych danych (ang. raw data). dd jest używane do kopiowania określonej liczby bajtów lub bloków danych wraz z opcjonalnym konwertowaniem kopiowanych danych (np. zmianą kolejności bajtów, konwersją z EBCDIC do ASCII). Powszechnym wykorzystaniem dd jest do tworzenia kopii boot sektora dysku, odczyt danych ze specjalnych plików takich jak /dev/zero albo /dev/random. Sprawdza się również przy odczycie i zapisie urządzeń blokowych takich jak taśmy magnetyczne. Ponieważ dd potrafi operować na całych partycjach lub dyskach, jest często wykorzystywane przy gromadzeniu "cyfrowych dowodów", gdzie niezbędne jest zczytanie dysku "bit po bicie". Użycie komendy cp było by tu niewystarczające, gdyż dane z usuniętych plików, które nie zostały jeszcze "nadpisane" nie są widoczne dla systemu plików, do którego odwołuje się cp, a który dd pomija.

.dd jest domeną internetową przypisaną dla Niemieckiej Republiki Demokratycznej, skrót pochodzi od niemieckiej nazwy Deutsche Demokratische Republik. Domena nie była jednak nigdy używana i nie została zarejestrowana na serwerach DNS. Od czasu zjednoczenia Niemiec w 1990 cały kraj używa jednej domeny .de.

Nazwa pochodzi od niemieckiej nazwy kraju, czyli Deutschland.Początkowo za przydział adresów domeny .de odpowiadał Wydział Informatyki Uniwersytetu w Dortmundzie, stąd też adres internetowy tego uniwersytetu, uni-dortmund.de jest najstarszym zarejestrowanym adresem domeny. Z kolei od stycznia 1994 do końca 1999 domeną zarządzał Instytut Informatyki Uniwersytetu w Karlsruhe.

.dd è il  dominio di primo livello nazionale (ccTLD) che doveva essere assegnato alla Repubblica Democratica Tedesca. L'assegnamento non è mai avvenuto e nel 1990, dopo la riunificazione della Germania, il dominio .dd è stato ritirato.
