Le daf ou def, duff, deff, defi, defli ou dap est un grand tambour sur cadre de la tradition persane utilisé (comme le zarb) pour accompagner la musique iranienne, mais qui est aussi répandu (sans ses anneaux) du Moyen-Orient à la Sibérie en passant par l'Asie centrale. Il est sans doute à l'origine du tar arabo-andalou répandu au Maghreb et qui a atteint l'Europe médiévale. Il survit encore au Portugal et en Espagne (ainsi qu'au Brésil et au Guatémala) sous le nom d'adufe, mais aussi de pandero ou pandeiro.

Deutsch als Fremdsprache (DaF) bezeichnet den Status der deutschen Sprache für alle Sprecher oder Lerner, deren Muttersprache nicht Deutsch ist, sowie insbesondere den Deutschunterricht und die entsprechende Didaktik für diese Menschen sowohl in deutschsprachigen als auch in anderssprachigen Ländern oder Gebieten. Das betrifft (nach Eurobarometer) allein in der Europäischen Union mindestens 55 Millionen Personen (vgl. die Angabe von 20 Millionen des Goethe-Instituts) . DaF ist außerdem die Bezeichnung für den entsprechenden Studiengang.

El adufe (en árabe, دف duff, de donde procede la palabra castellana; llamado a veces erróneamente daff por influencia del inglés) es un instrumento membranófono que en realidad es un pandero redondo formado por un bastidor de madera cubierto por piel por los dos lados, generalemnte uno de ellos está decorado con pintura. En el mundo árabe es utilizado principalmente por mujeres en cantos y danzas folclóricos.
