Cytokinesis is the process whereby the cytoplasm of a single cell is divided to spawn two daughter cells. It usually initiates during the late stages of mitosis, and sometimes meiosis, splitting a binucleate cell in two to ensure that chromosome number is maintained from one generation to the next. In animal cells, one notable exception to the normal process of cytokinesis is oogenesis (the creation of an ovum in the ovarian follicle of the ovary), where the ovum takes almost all the cytoplasm and organelles, leaving very little for the resulting polar bodies, which then die. In plant cells, a dividing structure known as the cell plate forms across the centre of the cytoplasm and a new cell wall forms between the two daughter cells.

Zytokinese - oft auch Cytokinese - ist der biologische Fachbegriff für die Teilung des Zellplasmas (Zytoplasma) in zwei, selten auch in mehr, Zellen im Anschluss an die Mitose beziehungsweise die Meiose.Die Zytokinese ist ein Teil der Zellteilung und damit auch der Zellvermehrung. Sie beginnt gewöhnlich während der späten Anaphase oder der Telophase. Dabei kommt es bei tierischen Zellen zur Bildung eines kontraktilen Ringes in der Höhe der Metaphasenplatte und die Zellmembran wird zwischen den Tochterkernen nach innen gezogen. Dieser kontraktile Ring besteht aus Aktin und Myosin, Bestandteile aus dem Zytoskelett. Die Kontraktion verläuft analog zur Muskelkontraktion in den Muskelfasern, wo diese Filamente ebenfalls vorkommen und sich über den sogenannten molekularen Ruderschlag gegeneinander verschieben.

Cytokineza – podział cytoplazmy w procesie podziału komórki. Może zacząć się pod koniec anafazy lub na początku telofazy.W komórkach zwierzęcych cytokineza wygląda następująco: w płaszczyźnie równikowej dzielącej się komórki tworzy się tzw. pierścień kurczliwy (zbudowany z cząsteczek białek - miozyny i aktyny). W wyniku zaciskania się tego pierścienia powstaje tzw. bruzda podziałowa. Pod bruzdą podziałową zlokalizowane są pęcherzyki siateczki wewnątrzplazmatycznej, które łączą się i pomagają rozdzielić cytoplazmę oraz odtworzyć (błonę komórkową). Ostatecznie prowadzi to do rozdzielenia cytoplazmy pomiędzy dwie komórki potomne.

Cytokinese is de deling van het cytoplasma van een cel en is een onderdeel van de celdeling (mitose en meiose).Voorafgaand aan de cytokinese is er een fase waarinhet erfelijke materiaal van een cel verdubbeld wordt; dit verdubbelde erfelijke materiaal over beide toekomstige cellen verdeeld wordt. Het resultaat van de celdeling zijn twee dochtercellen die, wat betreft de erfelijke informatie, identiek zijn aan de moedercel.

細胞質分裂 (さいぼうしつぶんれつ) とは、真核細胞が分裂する際核分裂に引き続き起きる細胞質の分離現象。この過程によって細胞分裂が終結する。動物細胞では細胞骨格の構成因子であるアクチン繊維とミオシンからなる収縮環が形成され、この働きにより細胞膜を絞るようにして細胞質が分離する。植物細胞はこれと異なり細胞内部に細胞板が形成され、これが外縁の細胞膜に到達することで細胞質が仕切られる。
