Cultural identity is the (feeling of) identity of a group or culture, or of an individual as far as he is influenced by his belonging to a group or culture. Cultural identity is similar to and has overlaps with, but is not synonymous with, identity politics.

Unter Kultureller Identität versteht man das Zugehörigkeitsgefühl eines Individuums oder einer sozialen Gruppe zu einem bestimmten kulturellen Kollektiv. Dies kann eine Gesellschaft, ein bestimmtes kulturelles Milieu oder auch eine Subkultur sein. Identität stiftend ist dabei die Vorstellung, sich von anderen Individuen oder Gruppen kulturell zu unterscheiden, das heißt in einer bestimmten Anzahl gesellschaftlich oder geschichtlich erworbener Aspekte wie Sprache, Religion, Nation, Wertvorstellungen, Sitten und Gebräuchen oder in sonstigen Aspekten der Lebenswelt. Die Gesichtspunkte, die eine kulturelle Identität prägen, sind heterogen und können auch zueinander im Widerspruch stehen.

Identidad cultural es el (sentimiento de) identidad de un grupo o cultura, o de un individuo, en la medida en la que él o ella es afectado por su pertenencia a tal grupo o cultura.Está dada por un conjunto de características que permiten distinguir a un grupo humano del resto de la sociedad y por la identificación de un conjunto de elementos que permiten a este grupo autodefinirse como tal. La Identidad de un pueblo se manifiesta cuando una persona se reconoce o reconoce a otra persona como miembro de ese pueblo. La identidad cultural no es otra cosa que el reconocimiento de un pueblo como "si mismo".
