The Committee for the Re-Election of the President, abbreviated CRP but often mocked by the acronym CREEP, was a fundraising organization of United States President Richard Nixon's administration. Besides its re-election activities, CRP employed money laundering and slush funds and was directly and actively involved in the Watergate scandal.

Das Committee to Re-elect the President (dt. Komitee zur Wiederwahl des Präsidenten) stellte sich zum Ziel, die Wiederwahl des US-Präsidenten Richard Nixon bei der Präsidentschaftswahl 1972 zu gewährleisten. Es wurde vom damaligen Justizminister John N. Mitchell geführt. Maurice Stans (ehemaliger Handelsminister) war Vorsitzender des dazugehörigen Finanzkomitees. Die offiziell vom Komitee verwendete Abkürzung war CRP, während der Enthüllung der Watergate-Affäre und in der späteren Literatur wurde aber meistens das abwertende Akronym CREEP (mit Anspielung auf engl. „to creep“ = schleichen, unterlaufen oder „creep“ = abstoßender Mensch) verwendet.

Il fut impliqué dans le scandale du Watergate pour avoir financé une équipe de cambrioleurs travaillant pour le compte des conseillers de Nixon. Plusieurs de ses membres, dont le président du CRP et ancien Attorney General John Mitchell, Gordon Liddy et Howard Hunt furent condamnés à des peines de prison.

Lo scorrimento viscoso (in inglese creep) è il fenomeno della deformazione di un materiale sottoposto a sforzo costante ad alta temperatura (oltre la temperatura di scorrimento(Ts) che circa coincidente con la temperatura di ricristallizzazione e approssimabile, in media, alla metà della temperatura di fusione misurata in gradi K).
Si possono distinguere tre fasi principali quando il processo avviene a T > Ts:

• primo stadio (creep primario): all'applicazione del carico inizia la deformazione elasto-plastica, seguita dal creep logaritmico favorito dalla mobilità delle dislocazioni più favorevoli;
• secondo stadio (creep secondario): si stabilisce un equilibrio tra l'incrudimento e la ricristallizzazione e la velocità di deformazione, pur non nulla, è comunque costante e bassa relativamente a quella presente nella fase successiva;
• terzo stadio (creep terziario): si arriva velocemente alla rottura a causa delle microcricche appuntite e dei microvuoti tondeggianti (nei punti di incontro di tre cristalli) e soprattutto dello scorrimento diffusivo dei giunti dei grani (cioè i grani si allungano per diffusione di atomi nella direzione della trazione e di vacanze nella direzione normale).

Si sottolinea che, in caso di T < T_S, lo sforzo costante induce una deformazione elastica e plastica senza che questa continui fino a rottura: non vi è infatti abbastanza energia per muovere le dislocazioni meno favorevolmente orientate, quindi ad un certo punto la deformazione si arresta.
