ConTEXT is a closed-source freeware text editor for Microsoft Windows, aimed at software developers. It can open and edit very large files, while requiring only modest amounts of RAM and hard drive space to run.It has built-in syntax highlighters for C/C++, Delphi/Pascal, 80x86 assembler, Java, JavaScript, Visual Basic, Perl/CGI, HTML, SQL, Python, PHP, Tcl/Tk, and its own syntax highlighter definition language. Other features are code templates, support for UTF-8, and the ability to work with several document windows using the Multiple Document Interface. ConTEXT can integrate compilers to compile source code from within the editor, and run external tools to manipulate loaded files (e.g. Pretty Printer). The output of such external programs, e.g. error messages, can be captured for further use. Incremental search and basic regular expressions are supported for searching and replacing. ConTEXT is available in many languages.

ConTeXt is a document preparation system based on the TeX typesetting system. It was designed with the same general-purpose aims as LaTeX, but being younger reflects much more recent thinking about the structure of the markup, is more modular in its conception, and more monolithic in its building. ConTeXt gives more control to the "end user" and makes it easier to create new layout without learning TeX macro language. ConTeXt is consistent in its design, and does not suffer from the "package clashes" in LaTeX.

ConTEXt ist ein Textverarbeitungsprogramm, das auf dem Satzprogramm TeX basiert. Es besitzt – im Gegensatz zum anderen großen, älteren TeX-Makropaket LaTeX – ein modulares Konzept und ist monolithischer. Beispielsweise sind TeX-basierte Vektorgraphiken durch Metafun vollständig in ConTeXt integriert. Letzteres ist eine Obermenge der MetaPost-Graphikprogrammiersprache (die ihrerseits von der Metafont-Sprache stammt, die wie TeX ebenfalls eine Schöpfung von Donald Knuth ist). ConTeXt legt einen Schwerpunkt auf die Benutzung von PdfTeX, um Papier- und Online-Version desselben Dokuments zu erstellen. Zudem sind bei ConTeXt einige Perl-Hilfsskripte wie TeXutil und TeXexec dabei.

Als Kontext (lateinisch con-textus »Zusammenhang«, Plural: „Kontexte“) wird ein Zusammenhang oder Umfeld beispielsweise eines Wortes oder einer Handlung bezeichnet. Im Falle eines Wortes bezieht sich der Kontext auf das sprachliche Umfeld des Textes, d.i. die Kollokation.Im Rahmen der Diplomatik (Lehre der mittelalterlichen und frühzeitlichen Urkunden) wird als Kontext der Teil einer Urkunde bezeichnet, der zwischen den einleitenden und abschließenden Floskeln (Protokoll und Eschatokoll) eine allgemeine Einleitung (Arenga: vor allem religiös begründete Vorgeschichte der Urkunde, Narratio: konkrete Gründe, Promulgatio: Verkündungsformel) und den eigentlichen Rechtssachverhalt (Dispositio) enthält sowie die Beglaubigungsmittel ankündigt (Corroboratio).

Teoretycznie umie otwierać i edytować pliki dowolnych rozmiarów.Posiada 4 kB długość linii oraz podświetlanie składni dla C, Delphi/Pascal, 80x86 asembler, Java, JavaScript, Visual Basic, Perl/CGI, HTML, SQL, Python, PHP, Tcl/Tk, XML, Fortran, FoxPro oraz swoje zdefiniowane szablony podświetlania składni. Integracja z kompilatorem jest jego kolejną zaletą. Posiada także różne wersje językowe w tym polską. Posiada także podstawowe funkcję związane z wyrażeniami regularnymi. Wbrew informacjom zawartym na jego stronie, nie wspiera kodowania UTF-8.

Kontekst (łac. contextus - związek, łączność, zależność)W znaczeniu językowym (komunikacji międzyludzkiej) - zależność znaczenia treści jakiegoś fragmentu tekstu, wypowiedzi lub słowa, od treści i znaczeń słów ją poprzedzających lub po nich następujących. Np. słowo "morze" rozumiemy przede wszystkim jako dużą ilość wody, lecz wypowiedź "morze piasku" rozumiemy jako pustynię, czyli obszar bezwodny, a słowo "morze" jest w tej specyficznej frazie synonimem bezmiaru, dużej ilości. Bardziej precyzyjnie, słowo "morze" zostało tu użyte w sensie metaforycznym/przenośnym.
