constante

Theo Constanté (born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, 1934) is a master Latin American painter who is a part of Informalismo. His works are abstract in nature and consist of many different colors which meld together amongst loosely drawn geometric lines. Constanté studied and later taught at the School of Beautiful Arts in Guayaquil and in the Academy of San Fernando of Madrid. In 1963, Constanté's works were represented at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris for the Third Biennial of Paris together with Enrique Tábara and Humberto Moré. The work of Theo Constanté can be found in galleries, museums and collections through out Guayaquil, Quito, Lima, Cali, Miami, New York, Paris, Madrid and São Paulo.

Constant is een begrip uit de wiskunde en de natuurkunde dat onveranderlijkheid uitdrukt. Met constant wordt bedoeld dat een grootheid een niet veranderlijke waarde heeft, en niet afhankelijk is van andere parameters. De grafiek van de functie y=c, met c een willekeurige constante, ziet er in een diagram met x- en y-coördinaten uit als een horizontale lijn (zie de afbeelding hiernaast). De afgeleide van een constante functie is gelijk aan nul.
