COMES
The French Solar Energy Authority (Commissariat à l'Energie Solaire, ComES), a public scientific and industrial entity, was set up in 1978 to promote a comprehensive energy policy based on energy savings, on efficient energy management, and on renewable sources of energy (photovoltaicsolar thermalwindhydraulicbiomass). It was supervised by the Ministry for Industry and by the Ministry for Research. When it was discontinued, its duties were taken up by the French Agency for the Environment and Energy Management, ADEME.

Comes (genitive: comitis) is the Latin word for companion, either individually or as a member of a collective known as comitatus (compare comitatenses), especially the suite of a magnate, in some cases large and/or formal enough to have a specific name, such as a cohors amicorum. The word comes derives from com- "with" + ire "go."

Comes, Plural Comites (lateinisch für Begleiter, Gefolge, von cum (mit) und ire (gehen)) ist im Ursprung ein römischer Amtstitel, der im Laufe der Zeit mehrere Bedeutungen gehabt hat, sowohl im zivilen Bereich für Statthalter und Mitglieder des kaiserlichen Rats als auch für Militärs. In der Spätantike bezeichnet comes in der Regel die höchste Rangklasse des Hofes, während im Militär regionale Kommandeure den comes-Titel trugen.
