Coffee is a widely consumed beverage prepared from roasted seeds, commonly called beans, of the coffee plant. Coffee was first consumed in the 9th century, when it was discovered in the highlands of Ethiopia. From there, it spread to Egypt and Yemen, and by the 15th century had reached Persia, Turkey, and northern Africa. From the Muslim world, coffee spread to Italy, then to the rest of Europe and the Americas. Today, coffee is one of the most popular beverages worldwide.

Kaffee [] (türk. kahve aus arab.  qahwa „anregendes Getränk“) ist ein schwarzes, koffeinhaltiges Heißgetränk, das aus gerösteten (Röstkaffee) und gemahlenen Kaffeebohnen hergestellt wird. Röst- und Mahlgrad variieren je nach Zubereitungsart. Kaffee enthält das Vitamin Niacin. Die Bezeichnung Bohnenkaffee bedeutet nicht, dass der Kaffee noch ungemahlen ist, sondern dient der Unterscheidung von Ersatzkaffee (aus Zichorien, Gerstenmalz usw.).

Jedna z najpopularniejszych używek na Ziemi i główne źródło kofeiny. Działa pobudzająco i orzeźwiająco, przyśpiesza przemianę materii i zwiększa sprawność myślenia. Rocznie produkuje się około 6,7 miliona ton kawy. Picie kawy w zbyt dużych ilościach jest szkodliwe dla zdrowia.

Il caffè è una bevanda ottenuta dalla torrefazione e macinazione dei semi della Coffea arabica, una pianta originaria dell'Etiopia, ma esistente in varie zone del mondo in diverse tipologie quali Coffea Robusta, Coffea Liberica e Coffea Excelsa. Il suo nome dovrebbe derivare dalla regione di Kaffa in cui il caffè è stato coltivato in origine, sebbene in Etiopia il nome del caffè sia buna.
