The coast is defined as the part of the land adjoining or near the ocean. A coastline is properly a line on a map indicating the disposition of a coast, but the word is often used to refer to the coast itself. The adjective coastal describes something as being on, near to, or associated with a coast.

La côte est définie comme la partie de la terre adjacente ou proche de l'océan (ou de la mer). En français, il n'y a pas de consensus sur la différence entre côte et littoral. Aussi, en géographie, on utilise souvent le terme de côte pour traduire la notion anglosaxone de coastline. L'adjectif côtier qualifie ce qui est sur, proche ou relatif à une côte.

COAST ist die englische Abkürzung für Cache on a stick und bezeichnet ein kleines Modul mit Speicherbausteinen. Dabei handelte es sich um einen Pipelined-Burst-Cache mit einer Speicherkapazität von 256 KiB oder 512 KiB. Dieser läuft mit der externen Taktfrequenz der CPU (FSB). Das Modul dient zur Speichererweiterung des aufgelöteten L2-Cache, meist von 256 KiB auf 512 KiB, oder als Ersatz des langsameren asynchronen L2-Cache auf älteren Pentium-Hauptplatinen. Bei vielen älteren Hauptplatinen ist der Cache aber aufgelötet und deswegen ein Austausch praktisch unmöglich.

Die Coast Province (Küstenprovinz) ist eine Provinz Kenias. Sie liegt entlang der Küste des Landes am Indischen Ozean. Ihre Hauptstadt ist Mombasa.Die Provinz hat eine Fläche von 84.113 km², auf der etwa 3.035.000 Einwohner leben. Die Bewohner gehören zu den Mijikenda, Swahili und vielen anderen Ethnien.Weitere wichtige Städte sind Diani im Süden, Malindi, Watamu und Lamu im Norden. Diani ist ein Touristenzentrum mit Sandständen und Palmen. Watamu ist eine kleine Fischergemeinde und ist der erste Meernationalpark in Ostafrika.

Als Küste bezeichnet man die Zone, die sich see- und landwärts entlang einer Küstenlinie eines Meeres oder Ozeans erstreckt. Als Küstenlinie wird die Linie des mittleren Hochwassers, bei Gezeitenküsten des mittleren Tidehochwassers, bezeichnet.In geologischer Zeit gesehen ist eine Küste nur eine Momentaufnahme und ständig im Wandel begriffen. Der Küstenverlauf ändert sich in erster Linie durch die Wirkung von Meeresströmungen und Gezeiten (Tide) sowie durch die erosive Kraft der Brandung. Daneben spielen auch eustatische Meeresspiegelschwankungen sowie Landhebungen und -senkungen durch isostatische und tektonische Prozesse eine Rolle.

Wybrzeże - wąski pas po obu stronach linii brzegowej, zarówno od strony lądu, jak i strony morza, na który ma wpływ rzeźbotwórcza działalność mórz i oceanów (m.in. fal morskich, pływów, prądów przybrzeżnych). Ze względu na to czy działalność ta jest niszcząca czy budująca się, wyróżnia się wybrzeża niszczone, wybrzeża narastające oraz wybrzeża wyrównywane (tj. w niektórych miejscach niszczone, w niektórych narastające). A ze względu na jego układ w stosunku do głównych linii ukształtowania terenu lub budowy geologicznej wyróżnia się wybrzeża podłużne i wybrzeża poprzeczne. Wyróżnia się także wybrzeża podwójne, czyli takie którym towarzyszy dodatkowo lido lub mierzeja.

La costa o litorale è la linea di confine tra la terra e l'acqua di un oceano, golfo, mare o grande lago. Per la geografia, il limite inferiore (verso il corpo idrico) è il piede della spiaggia, ovvero il limite tra fondale sabbioso e fondale fangoso (questo è il limite al largo del quale il movimento delle onde non arriva al fondo); il limite superiore (verso terra), meno ben definito, è la linea oltre la quale cessa l'influenza delle acque del corpo idrico (ad esempio, il punto in cui le lagune non contengono acqua salata ma acqua dolce).
