Client (computing)
A client is an application or system that accesses a service made available by a server. The server is often (but not always) on another computer system, in which case the client accesses the service by way of a network. The term was first applied to devices that were not capable of running their own stand-alone programs, but could interact with remote computers via a network. These dumb terminals were clients of the time-sharing mainframe computer.

Ein Client (engl. client = Kunde) ist ein Computerprogramm, das Kontakt zu einem anderen Computerprogramm, dem Server, aufnimmt, um dessen Dienstleistung zu nutzen.

Kunde (Begriffsklärung)
Kunde (männlich (der Kunde) von althochdeutsch chundo „Bekannter“) bezeichnet:
- eine Organisation oder eine Person, die Güter oder Dienstleistungen bezieht, siehe Kunde
- eine becherförmige Einstülpung des Zahnschmelzes bei Pferden, siehe Zahnaltersschätzung
- im Rotwelschen einen Landstreicher, davon abgeleitet:
- einen Angehörigen einer Subkultur in der DDR, siehe Blueserszene
- Der Kunde, eine zwischen 1928 und 1931 von der Bruderschaft der Vagabunden um Gregor Gog herausgegeben Straßenzeitung

Client (informatique)
En informatique, le mot client est employé dans le contexte du modèle client/serveur. C'est un logiciel installé sur le poste de travail qui permet d'accéder à un serveur du même type.

Klient (informatyka)
Klient - oprogramowanie (czasami komputer, na którym to oprogramowanie jest uruchomione) korzystające z usług dostarczanych przez serwer. Przykładem może być cała rodzina oprogramowania typu telnet czy SSH; jednym z klientów w tej kategorii jest PuTTY - program pozwalający użytkownikowi na korzystanie z konsoli tekstowej na zdalnym komputerze. Innym przykładem jest przeglądarka internetowa pobierająca strony WWW - np. z popularnego serwera Apache oraz MySQL.

Client
In informatica, con client (in italiano detto anche cliente) si indica una componente che accede ai servizi o alle risorse di un'altra componente, detta server. In questo contesto si può quindi parlare di client riferendosi all'hardware o al software.
Un computer collegato ad un server tramite una rete informatica (locale o geografica) ed al quale richiede uno o più servizi, utilizzando uno o più protocolli di rete è un esempio di client hardware.
Un programma di posta elettronica è un esempio di client software.

Clientelismo
Con il termine clientelismo - o semplicemente clientela - viene per consuetudine indicata la pratica grazie alla quale una persona che non avrebbe alcun titolo per godere di risorse, benefici o posti di prestigio nel panorama politico-sociale, li ottiene attraverso i favori forniti da una o più persone appartenenti ad un gruppo di potere.
