ciliary body

The ciliary body is the circumferential tissue inside the eye composed of the ciliary muscle and ciliary processes. It is part of the uveal tract—the layer of tissue which provides most of the nutrients in the eye. There are three sets of ciliary muscles in the eye, the longitudinal, radial, and circular muscles. They are near the front of the eye, above and below the  lens. They are attached to the lens by connective tissue called the zonule of Zinn, and are responsible for shaping the lens to focus light on the retina.

Le corps ciliaire est la portion antérieure de la choroïde sur lequel est attaché le cristallin, par l’intermédiaire des ligaments suspenseurs (ou zonules). Sur la face postérieure du corps ciliaire se trouvent les procès ciliaires qui sécrètent l'humeur aqueuse.

Das Corpus ciliare (Ziliar- oder Strahlenkörper) ist ein Abschnitt der mittleren Augenhaut. Es dient der Aufhängung der Linse und deren Akkommodation. Außerdem ist es an der Produktion des Kammerwassers beteiligt.Der Übergang von der Choroidea zum Strahlenkörper ist die Ora serrata (gesägter Rand). Von hier aus wölbt sich das Corpus ciliare in Form eines Ringwulstes (Ziliarring, Orbiculus ciliaris) nach innen gegen die Linse vor. Am Scheitelpunkt des Wulstes ragen Ziliarfortsätze (Processus ciliares) nach innen. Deren Gesamtheit stellt den Ziliarkranz (Corona ciliaris) dar. An diesen Fortsätzen entspringen radiär Zonulafasern (Fibrae zonulares) und befestigen sich am Linsenäquator. Die Gesamtheit der Zonulafasern wird als Zonula ciliaris bezeichnet. Nach vorn geht es in die Iris über.
