Chloroplasts are organelles found in plant cells and other eukaryotic organisms that conduct photosynthesis. Chloroplasts capture light energy, store it in the energy storage molecules ATP and NADPH and use it in the process called photosynthesis to make organic molecules and free oxygen from carbon dioxide and water.

Die Chloroplasten (von griech.   „grün“) sind Organellen der Zellen von Grünalgen und höheren Pflanzen, die Photosynthese betreiben. Bei höheren Pflanzen können aus den photosynthetisch aktiven Chloroplasten durch Differenzierung Chromoplasten, Leukoplasten (Amyloplasten, Elaioplasten), Etioplasten und Gerontoplasten  hervorgehen (zusammengefasst als Plastiden).

Les chloroplastes sont des organites présents dans le cytoplasme des cellules végétales chlorophylliennes. Ils sont sensibles aux expositions des différentes ondes du spectre lumineux. Ils jouent un rôle essentiel dans le fonctionnement d'une cellule végétale car ils permettent de capter la lumière à l'origine de la photosynthèse. Par l'intermédiaire de la chlorophylle qu'ils possèdent et de leurs ultrastructures, ces organites sont capables de transférer l'énergie véhiculée par les photons à des molécules chimiques (eau). .

Kloroplaster är en typ av organeller som finns i växternas celler. Kloroplasterna innehåller pigmentet klorofyll och deras uppgift är att omvandla strålningen från solen till kemisk energi. Den kemiska energin, i form av ATP och NADPH, kan sedan användas till att bygga upp olika delar av växten.

Chloroplasty zawierają zielone barwniki chlorofile pochłaniające energię światła słonecznego do fotosyntezy. Chloroplasty zaliczamy do plastydów. Ich główną funkcją jest przemiana dwutlenku węgla oraz wody z wykorzystaniem energii świetlnej w glukozę oraz tlen.
