chemical species

Chemical species are atoms, molecules, molecular fragments, ions, etc., as entities being subjected to a chemical process or to a measurement. Generally, a chemical species can be defined as an ensemble of chemically identical molecular entities that can explore the same set of molecular energy levels on a characteristic or delineated time scale. The term may be applied equally to a set of chemically identical atomic or molecular structural units in a solid array.

En chimie, le terme espèce chimique est une appellation générique se référant à un ensemble d'entités chimiques identiques : chaque entité est soit un atome (espèce chimique atomique) soit un groupes d'atomes liés qui peut, selon sa charge électrique et sa configuration électronique, être une molécule, un ion ou un radical.

צורון כימי הוא מינוח נפוץ בכימיה המתאר אטום, יון, מולקולה או חלק ממנה וכדומה, בהקשר של תגובות או תהליכים כימיים. השימוש במונח "צורון" נעשה בכל ענפי הכימיה ומשמש בהקשרים שונים לתיאור חומרים שונים. בדרך כלל המינוח מתייחס לקבוצות כלליות של חומרים בעלות מאפיינים פיזיקלים וכימיים דומים, לעתים קרובות כאלו בעלות זמן מחצית חיים קצר כגון חומרי ביניים ומצבי מעבר בתגובות כימיות. דוגמאות לצורנים כימיים מסוג זה הם רדיקלים חופשיים וקרבוקטיונים. כמו כן, בכימיה סופרא מולקולרית נהוג להתייחס לעתים גם לקומפלקסים המורכבים ממספר מולקולות המקושרות זו לזו באמצעות קשרים חלשים כאל צורונים כימיים.
