Channel (communications)
In telecommunications and computer networking, a communication channel, or channel, refers either to a physical transmission medium such as a wire, or to a logical connection over a multiplexed medium such as a radio channel. A channel is used to convey an information signal, for example a digital bit stream, from one or several senders (or transmitters) to one or several receivers. A channel has a certain capacity for transmitting information, often measured by its bandwidth in Hz or its data rate in bits per second

Kanal komunikacji
Kanał komunikacji to połączenie pozwalające na komunikację pomiędzy dwoma uczestnikami wymieniającymi się informacjami. Każdy przekaz jest wysyłany przez nadawcę oraz odbierany przez adresata wiadomości.
Kanał może pozwalać na komunikację dwustronną, ale tylko w jedną stronę na raz (ang. half duplex) lub na równoczesny przekaz informacji w tym samym czasie w obu kierunkach (ang. full duplex).
W rzeczywistości kanał komunikacyjny jest zwykle jakimś fizycznym medium, np. powietrzem, miedzianym przewodem czy siecią komputerową. Dużym problemem jest pojawianie się przesłuchów. Jeżeli na wiele kanałów komunikacji dzieli wspólne medium transmisyjne, to różni nadawcy mogą się nawzajem zakłócać.

Communicatie-kanalen
Een communicatie-kanaal in de zin van het multiprogrammeren is een verbinding tussen processoren waarover data gecommuniceerd worden tussen de verbonden processoren.
Communicatie-kanalen worden in twee betekenissen gebruikt in het ontwerp van multiprogramma's:
- Als model van communicatie in een berekening
- Als fysiek kanaal tussen twee (of meer) processoren
