cassole

A cassole is a conical earthenware container, glazed inside. Cassoles are still made in the traditional way at Issel, near Castelnaudary. The name originates from the French form of the Occitan word caçòla and is the origin of the famous cassoulet.

Une cassole est un récipient en terre cuite émaillée à l'intérieur, en forme de cône tronqué. Elle est encore de nos jours fabriquée artisanalement à Issel, près de Castelnaudary. Le terme vient de la françisation du mot occitan caçòla à l'origine du célèbre cassoulet.
