Carbon
Carbon (from "coal") is the chemical element with symbol C and atomic number 6. As a member of group 14 on the periodic table, it is nonmetallic and tetravalent—making four electrons available to form covalent chemical bonds. There are three naturally occurring isotopes, with 12C and 13C being stable, while 14C is radioactive, decaying with a half-life of about 5,730 years. Carbon is one of the few elements known since antiquity.

Kohlenstoff
Kohlenstoff (von altgerm. kulo(n) = „Kohle“), Symbol C (von lat. carbo „Holzkohle“, latinisiert Carboneum) ist ein chemisches Element der 4. Hauptgruppe. Es kommt in der Natur sowohl in reiner (gediegener) Form als auch chemisch gebunden vor. Aufgrund seiner besonderen Elektronenkonfiguration (halbgefüllte L-Schale) besitzt es die Fähigkeit zur Bildung von komplexen Molekülen und weist von allen chemischen Elementen die größte Vielfalt an chemischen Verbindungen auf. Kohlenstoffverbindungen bilden die molekulare Grundlage allen irdischen Lebens.

Kingdom of Loathing
Kingdom of Loathing, KoL, är ett browserbaserat MMORPG utvecklat av Asymmetric Publications. Spelet släpptes som en öppen beta i februari 2003 och i juni 2005 utökades spelet en del och gick därmed officiellt ut ur betastadiet. Grafiken består av simpla streckfigurer som är ritade av Zack "Jick" Johnsson. Jick jobbar med Kingdom of Loathing på heltid. Han har även en kompanjon i utvecklandet av KoL, Josh "Mr. Skullhead" Nite. Utöver Mr.Skullhead har Jick ett par anställda som hjälper till med att skriva de roliga texter som spelet är känt för, samt som hjälper till med kodningen. Spelet är känt för att innehålla en hel del referenser från populärkulturen. Det är dessa referenser och humoristiska skämt som gjort spelet så omtyckt.

Kroniskt obstruktiv lungsjukdom, KOL, är en sjukdom där flödet i luftvägarna är förhindrat. Sjukdomen är starkt kopplad till rökning, men kan även orsakas av α1-antitrypsinbrist.

Wegiel (pierwiastek)
Stabilne izotopy to 12C oraz 13C. Ważnym niestabilnym izotopem jest 14C (radiowęgiel) powstający z 14N w górnych warstwach atmosfery, pod wpływem promieniowania kosmicznego. Izotop ten używany jest do datowania.
Zawartość węgla w skorupie ziemskiej wynosi 0,018%.
