Kantate
Die Kantate (lat. cantare = „singen“) bezeichnet in der Musik eine Formenfamilie von mehrsätzigen Werken für Gesangsstimmen und Instrumentalbegleitung. Rezitative, Arien, Ariosi, Chorsätze, Choräle und instrumentale Vor- und Zwischenspiele können sich in beliebiger Anzahl abwechseln. Ihre größte Bedeutung erlangte die Kantate in der ersten Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts. Es gibt geistliche und auch weltliche Kantaten.
