Cacalia (
L.), is a large genus of to a flowering plants in the sunflower family
Asteraceae, occurring in the temperate climates of the northern hemisphere, mainly in Europe and Asia minor. Cacalia species are commonly known as
Indian plantain. Many of the plants in this genus have also been reassigned to genera
Emilia (Tasselflower), Arnoglossum, Cacaliopsis, Hasteola,
Mikania, Parasenecio,
Porophyllum, Psacalium and Rugelia, creating numerous species commonly know as Indian plantains from different genera.
