In particle physics, bosons are force carrier particles, such as the photon. They may be either elementary or composite. They are distinguished from fermions (matter particles) by their integer spin. Bosons are named after Indian physicist Satyendra Nath Bose.While most bosons are composite particles, four bosons (the gauge bosons) are elementary particles not known to be composed of other particles. The only two bosons in the Standard Model, that are yet to be discoved experimentally, are the Higgs boson and the graviton. In contrast to fermions, bosons can occupy the same quantum state. Thus, bosons with the same energy can occupy the same place in space. Therefore bosons are usually related with radiation while fermions are related with matter, although the distinction between the two is not always clear in quantum physics.

Les bosons représentent une classe de particules qui possèdent des propriétés de symétrie particulières lors de l'échange de particules : un système de particules identiques se comportant comme des bosons est toujours dans un état totalement symétrique vis-à-vis de l'échange de particules. Toutes les particules élémentaires découvertes à ce jour sont soit des bosons, soit des fermions, ces derniers ne pouvant être que dans un état totalement antisymétrique vis-à-vis de l'échange de particules. Le théorème spin-statistique indique que les particules de spin entier sont des bosons, alors que les particules de spin demi-entier sont des fermions.

Bosonen (benannt nach dem indischen Physiker Satyendranath Bose) sind Teilchen im physikalischen Sinn, die einen ganzzahligen Spin besitzen. Hierzu gehören unter den Elementarteilchen die Eichbosonen, unter den zusammengesetzten Teilchen alle Atomkerne mit gerader Nukleonenzahl (z. B. der Kern des schweren  Wasserstoffs (Deuterium), der aus zwei Fermionen besteht: einem Proton und einem Neutron). Die Besetzungs-Statistik für Bosonen ist die Bose-Einstein-Statistik. Bosonen grenzen sich ab von den Fermionen, die einen halbzahligen Spin besitzen. Ein Elementarteilchen ist immer entweder ein Boson oder ein Fermion.

W fizyce cząstek bozony (ang. boson od nazwiska fizyka Satyendra Bose), są cząstkami posiadającymi spin całkowity. Większość bozonów to cząstki złożone, jednakże 12 z nich (tak zwane bozony cechowania) są cząstkami elementarnymi, niezłożonymi z mniejszych cząstek (cząstki fundamentalne).
