Borée ist eine französische Gemeinde im Département Ardèche in der Region Rhône-Alpes. Die Bewohner werden Boréens und Boréennes genannt.

Bourrée
Die Bourrée (franz.) ist ein Hoftanz des französischen Hofes des 16. Jahrhunderts, der im Laufe der nachfolgenden Jahrhunderte zu einem Volkstanz in Zentralfrankreich (Auvergne, Berry, Morvan-Nivernais, Bourbonnais, Limousin) wurde.

Buren
Als Buren (nach eigener Auffassung offiziell Afrikaner, auch Afrikaaner, Afrikaander, Kapholländer oder Weißafrikaner) werden etwa seit Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts die größtenteils Afrikaans sprechenden europäischen Einwohner Südafrikas und Namibias bezeichnet. Die Bezeichnung Buren leitet sich vom niederländischen Wort boer für Bauer her. Schwarzafrikaner bezeichnen oftmals alle Weißen in Südafrika, auch englischsprachige, als Buren. Rund zwei Drittel aller südafrikanischen Weißen sind Afrikaaner. Hiervon zu unterscheiden ist der Stamm der Afrikaner, ein Unterstamm des in der Kapprovinz ansässigen Mischlingsvolkes der Orlam, benannt nach deren Häuptling Jager Afrikaner.

Gezeitenwelle
Eine Gezeitenwelle ist eine Welle, die durch die Tide ausgelöst wird und sich von einer Flussmündung aus flussaufwärts bewegt. Sie findet sich an den Unterläufen praktisch aller Flüsse, die in Meere mit deutlichem Tidenhub münden. Besonders auffällig sind extreme Formen, die sogenannten Boren (indisch: Flut). Gezeitenwellen sind nicht mit Tsunamis zu verwechseln, die von anderen Phänomenen ausgelöst werden.

Heinrich Boere
Heinrich Boere (* 27. September 1921 in Eschweiler bei Aachen) ist ein ehemaliges SS-Mitglied und Kriegsverbrecher, der während der deutschen Besetzung der Niederlande im Zweiten Weltkrieg dem Sonderkommando Silbertanne angehörte, welches im Rahmen von Vergeltungsaktionen unbewaffnete Zivilisten erschoss.
