Blue is a colour, the perception of which is evoked by light having a spectrum dominated by energy with a wavelength of roughly 450–490 nm. It is considered one of the additive primary colours. On the HSV Colour Wheel, the complement of blue is yellow; that is, a colour corresponding to an equal mixture of red and green light. On a colour wheel based on traditional colour theory (RYB) where blue was considered a primary colour, its complementary colour is considered to be orange (based on the Munsell colour wheel).

In statistics, the Gauss–Markov theorem, named after Carl Friedrich Gauss and Andrey Markov, states that in a linear regression model in which the errors have expectation zero and are uncorrelated and have equal variances, the best linear unbiased estimator (BLUE) of the coefficients is given by the ordinary least squares estimator. Here "best" means giving the lowest possible mean squared error of the estimate. The errors need not be normal, nor independent and identically distributed (only uncorrelated and homoscedastic).

Barwa niebieska jest jedną z addytywnych barw podstawowych, na kole barw dopełnia barwę żółtą. Zakres światła niebieskiego ma długość fali od ok. 420 do ok. 490 nm. W wielu językach nie ma osobnych słów na odróżnienie barwy niebieskiej i zielonej, a w języku szwedzkim aż do początku XX wieku używano tego samego słowa na określenie koloru czarnego i niebieskiego.
