biopsy

A biopsy (in Greek: bios = life and opsy = look/appearance) is a medical test involving the removal of cells or tissues for examination. The tissue is generally examined under a microscope by a pathologist, and can also be analyzed chemically (for example, using PCR techniques). When only a sample of tissue is removed, the procedure is called an incisional biopsy or core biopsy. When an entire lump or suspicious area is removed, the procedure is called an excisional biopsy. When a sample of tissue or fluid is removed with a needle, the procedure is called a needle aspiration biopsy.

Une biopsie est un examen médical qui consiste à prélever une portion de tissu d'un organe, afin de pouvoir l'étudier (en histologie ou en biochimie le plus souvent). La plupart des biopsies sont indolores (biopsie digestive au cours d'une endoscopie, biopsie bronchique au cours d'une fibroscopie pulmonaire par exemple). Celles qui peuvent être douloureuses (biopsie cutanée, biopsie salivaire, etc.) se font après une anesthésie locale voire, notamment chez l'enfant, sous sédation ou anesthésie générale.

Die Biopsie (griechisch βιοψία, viopsía von altgriechisch βίος, bíos, „Leben“ und , ópsis, „Sehen“) ist ein Fachbegriff aus der Medizin für die Entnahme und Untersuchung von Material (meist Gewebe) aus einem lebenden Organismus. Das entnommene Gewebe (das Bioptat) wird vom Pathologen unter dem Mikroskop untersucht. Aber auch chemische Analysen gehören zu den Untersuchungsmethoden.

Biopsja ( /bios/ - w znaczeniu: życie biologiczne, odnoszący się do życia i żywych organizmów + /opsis/ - obserwowanie, patrzenie) - rodzaj specjalnego zabiegu diagnostycznego, będącego inwazyjną metodą pobrania materiału biologicznego ze zmienionych chorobowo tkanek, który następnie jest oceniany morfologicznie z użyciem mikroskopu świetlnego (badanie histopatologiczne). Niekiedy materiał pobrany metodami biopsyjnymi jest wykorzystywany do badań innych niż morfologiczne (np. wirusologicznych, biochemicznych, itp.)

La biopsia è un esame medico che consiste nel prelievo di una porzione di tessuto da un organismo vivente. Il tessuto prelevato viene quindi analizzato al microscopio o anche con tecniche di microbiologia o biologia molecolare. La biopsia viene eseguita al fine di escludere o confermare un sospetto di malattia (ad es. infiammazione o tumore), ovvero di definirne con precisione le caratteristiche (gravità, estensione, possibili terapie).
