Biography
Biography (from the
Greek words bios meaning "life", and graphein meaning "write") is a genre of
literature and other forms of media such as
film, based on the written accounts of individual lives. While a biography may focus on a subject of
fiction or
non-fiction, the term is usually in reference to non-fiction. As opposed to a
profile or
curriculum vitae, a biography develops a complex analysis of personality, highlighting different aspects of it and including intimate details of experiences. A biography is more than a list of impersonal facts like birth, education, work, relationships and death. It also delves into the emotions of experiencing such events.

Eine Biografie (auch Biographie;
griechisch βιογραφία, von βíος – das
Leben und γραφή – die
Schrift) ist die Lebensbeschreibung einer
Person.Die Biografie ist die mündliche oder schriftliche Präsentation des Lebenslaufes eines anderen Menschen; ein Sonderfall der Biografie ist die
Autobiografie: Sie hat der Betreffende (großteils) selbst über seine eigenen Lebenserfahrungen geschrieben oder zumindest gilt er als deren Autor. Im Buchhandel gibt es viele Autobiografien von Prominenten, deren Wahrheitsgehalt in weiteren Büchern angezweifelt wird. Im Familienverbund werden Autobiografien manchmal dem Testament beigefügt. Es soll vom Leben eine Spur übrig bleiben – die Nachkommen sollen wissen, was war.

Biografia (zob. ) – obszerny opis dziejów całości życia oraz dokonań wybitnej postaci.Biografia może mieć postać opracowania naukowego lub popularnonaukowego. Jednak biografią może być również forma literacka w postaci
powieści biograficznej - szczególnie w przypadku braku dostępności wystarczających ilości informacji bezpośrednio na temat danej osoby, w celu dokonania jej analizy psychologicznej lub przedstawienia jej wpływu na życie epoki. Wykorzystywane wtedy są wiadomości na temat osób podobnych oraz ogólne informacje z czasów i miejsc z powiązanych z opisywaną osobą. Taką formą biografii może być wtedy również filmowa jej postać - w zależności od stopnia wierności, będąca filmem dokumentalnym lub fabularyzowanym.
