Binding - tłumaczone w żargonie muzycznym jako "ożyłkowanie", odnosi się do różego rodzaju instrumentów strunowych. W zależności od producetna i technologii, jest to taśma o szerokości od 2 do 6 milimetrów i grubości od 1 do 3 mm, wklejana w zafrezowane w płycie wierzchniej i spodniej instrumentu rowki. W drogich lutnicznych instrumentach, binding wykonuje sie z wysokich gatunkowo drewien, mających tendencję do "mienienia się" w świetle - jawor falisty, klon tygrysi, snakewood, etimoe.

ビンディング（英語binding（バインディング）と独語bindung（ビンドゥング）との混同による）とは、スキーあるいはスノーボードで靴を板に取り付けるための器具。スキーではサロモン、ルック、チロリア、マーカー、スノーボードではバートン、FLUXなどが有名なメーカーである。アルペンスキーではステップ・イン・タイプしかなく、技術や体重によって開放値と呼ばれる数値をドライバーなどで変更できるのが特徴。スノーボードでは大きく分けてステップ・インとストラップの二種類がある。近年はロードレーサーのペダルにも使用されている。ビンディング・ターン（binding turn）の略。スキーあるいはスノーボードで急激な加重と抜重を繰り返すジャンピング・ターン（jumping turn）に対して、雪面からの負荷を膝で吸収しながら常に雪面とコンタクトし続けて滑る滑走法。
