In typical English usage, a back door is the door around the back of a building. Thus, "employees must enter the store via the back door." Dans un logiciel une porte dérobée (de l'anglais backdoor, littéralement porte de derrière) est une fonctionnalité inconnue de l'utilisateur légitime, qui donne un accès secret au logiciel. En sécurité informatique, la porte dérobée peut être considérée comme un type de cheval de Troie.

Backdoor
Als Backdoor (auch Trapdoor, selten Hintertür) bezeichnet man einen (oft vom Autor eingebauten) Teil eines Computerprogrammes, der es Benutzern ermöglicht, unter Umgehung der normalen Zugriffssicherung Zugang zum Computer (oder einem Computerprogramm) zu erlangen.Eine Variante besteht darin, in einem System fest vorgegebene, nur dem Ersteller des Systems bekannte Passwörter oder andere versteckte Funktionen, die ein Login ohne die sonst übliche Authentifizierung ermöglichen, einzubauen. Bekanntes Beispiel hierfür ist wohl das von Award Software über mehrere Jahre vergebene BIOS-Universalpasswort „lkwpeter“ (wobei es sich nicht um das Paßwort handelte, sondern um ein einprägsames Wort, was zum richtigen Hash führte). Publikumswirksam demonstriert wurde der Einsatz einer Hintertür auch im Kinofilm Jurassic Park.

Backdoor
Backdoor (ang. tylne drzwi) - luka w zabezpieczeniach systemu utworzona umyślnie w celu późniejszego wykorzystania. Backdoor w systemie może być np. pozostawiony przez crackera, który włamał się przez inną lukę w oprogramowaniu (której przydatność jest ograniczona czasowo do momentu jej usunięcia) bądź poprzez podrzucenie użytkownikowi konia trojańskiego.

Backdoor
Le backdoor in informatica sono paragonabili a porte di servizio che consentono di superare in parte o in toto le procedure di sicurezza attivate in un sistema informatico. Queste "porte" possono essere intenzionalmente create dai gestori del sistema informatico per permettere una più agevole opera di manutenzione dell'infrastruttura informatica, e più spesso da cracker intenzionati a manomettere il sistema. Possono anche essere installate autonomamente da alcuni malware (come virusworm o trojan), in modo da consentire ad un utente esterno di prendere il controllo remoto della macchina senza l'autorizzazione del proprietario.
