Bachelor
A bachelor is a man who is not married (see single person). The term is restricted to men who are not in a pair bond that will produce children and are not actively seeking a long-term partner.

Bachelor
Der Bachelor ([] oder [], aus dem Engl., von lat. baccalaureus für „junger Geselle“, „Junggeselle“) oder seltener auch Bakkalaureus ist an Hochschulen der erste akademische Grad, der nach Abschluss einer wissenschaftlichen Ausbildung vergeben wird. Von Berufsakademien wird der Bachelor als staatliche Abschlussbezeichnung verliehen.

Junggeselle
Der Junggeselle war ehedem der ”junge Geselle”, der allein vom Alter her noch unverheiratet war. Daraus entstand das Wort Junggeselle (in manchen Zusammenhängen auch Hagestolz), das dann traditionell auf einen unverheirateten Mann angewendet wurde. Die weibliche Entsprechung ist Junggesellin (früher teilweise synonym mit Jungfrau). Es ist kein rechtlicher Begriff, sondern entspringt dem gesellschaftlichen Empfinden.

Baccalauréat dans le système universitaire anglo-saxon
Le baccalauréat dans le système universitaire anglo-saxon (en anglais baccalaureate ou bachelor’s degree ou par abus bachelor ou encore simplement degree) est un grade sanctionnant les trois ou quatre premières années universitaires, clôturant le premier cycle des études supérieures (cycle undergraduate en anglais, cycle pré-graduat).

Licencjat
Licencjat (łac. licentiatus) – w Polsce - tytuł zawodowy nadawany absolwentom studiów I stopnia. Tytuł ten jest odpowiednikiem dawnego bakałarza.
W uczelniach teologicznych Kościoła katolickiego licencjat to stopień pośredni między magistrem a doktorem. Posiadacz używa tytułu "mgr lic.".
Historycznie tytuł bakalaureat był najniższym stopniem naukowym nadawanym przez uczelnie europejskie od XIII wieku. W dawnej Polsce było to popularne określenie nauczyciela szkoły elementarnej. Obecnie tytuł ten jest nadawany w krajach anglosaskich (ang. bachelor).
