Pure Word Deafness is caused by damage to
Wernicke's area or disruption of
auditory input to this region. Exhibits itself as inability to comprehend the meaning of speech, but (in most cases) still being able to hear, speak, read and write.It can be associated with the left superior
temporal lobe.
