AV receiver
AV receivers or audio-video receivers are one of the many consumer electronics components typically found within a home theatre system. Their primary purpose is to amplify sound from a multitude of possible audio sources as well as route video signals to your TV from various sources. The user may program and configure a unit to take inputs from devices such as DVD players, VCRs etc. and easily select which source you want to route to your TV and have sound output for.

Audio (lat. ich höre, von audire hören) wird als Bestandteil von Wörtern verwendet, die mit Hören oder Tontechnik zu tun haben (z. B. Audioanlage,  AudiometerAuditorium).Audio bezieht sich auf den menschlichen Hörbereich, der den Schallwellenbereich von 18 Hz (Flimmergrenze) bis 20 kHz umfasst. Dieser Bereich unterliegt der menschlichen  Hörcharakteristik und ist im oberen Teil stark altersabhängig. Die hörbare obere Frequenzgrenze kann im Alter bis auf 10 kHz und darunter sinken. Zu den Audioereignissen gehören allgemein  Geräusche, worunter insbesondere sämtliche (Laut-) Sprachen und die Musik verstanden werden.

L'audio è l'informazione elettronica rappresentante il suono. In particolare è un'informazione che si presenta come un flusso avendo il suono sempre una dimensione temporale. Flusso che scorre all'interno di apparecchiature elettroniche sotto forma di corrente elettrica per essere elaborato, che viaggia nello spazio sotto forma di onde elettromagnetiche, o all'interno di cavi per telecomunicazioni sotto forma di corrente elettrica o luce, per essere trasmesso a distanza, che viene registrato su supporti di memorizzazione sotto varie forme per essere conservato.
