Atmospheric entry is the movement of human-made or natural objects as they enter the atmosphere of a celestial body from outer space—in the case of Earth from an altitude above the Kármán Line, (100 km). This article primarily addresses the process of controlled reentry of vehicles which are intended to reach the planetary surface intact, but the topic also includes uncontrolled (or minimally controlled) cases, such as the intentionally or circumstantially occurring, destructive deorbiting of satellites and the falling back to the planet of "space junk" due to orbital decay.

Der Vorgang des Wiedereintritts oder auch engl.: Reentry beschreibt den atmosphärischen Wiedereintritt eines von Menschenhand geschaffenen oder eines natürlichen Objekts, das in die Atmosphäre eines Himmelskörpers eintritt, im Fall der Erde von oberhalb der Grenze zum Weltraum.

La rentrée atmosphérique (aussi nommé improprement « réentrée »), en aérodynamique, est la phase où un corps solide (naturel tel qu'une météorite ou artificiel tel qu'un satellite, une capsule spatiale, un fragment de fusée... ), dit « corps de rentrée », passe du vide spatial et entre très rapidement dans l'atmosphère à partir du vide spatial. Ce phénomène s'accompagnant d'un très fort échauffement dû aux frottements des vitesses hypersoniques.

大気圏再突入（たいきけんさいとつにゅう）は宇宙船などが真空に近い宇宙空間から地球などの大気圏に進入すること。単に再突入 (reentry) とも呼ばれる。宇宙飛行においては最も危険が大きいフェイズの1つである。大気圏突入 (entry) と言う場合は隕石など外来の物体も含むのに対し、大気圏再突入は地上から打ち上げた物体の帰還に限る。
