Astrology (from Greek: αστήρ, αστρός (astér, astrós), "star", and λόγος, λόγου (lógos, lógou), "word" or "speech" lit. to talk about the stars) is a group of systems, traditions, and beliefs in which knowledge of the relative positions of celestial bodies and related details is held to be useful in understanding, interpreting, and organizing information about personality, human affairs, and other terrestrial matters. A practitioner of astrology is called an astrologer, or, less often, an astrologist. Numerous traditions and applications employing astrological concepts have arisen since its earliest recorded beginnings in the 2nd millennium BCE. It has played a role in the shaping of culture, early astronomy, and other disciplines throughout history.

L‘astrologie est un ensemble de systèmes de croyances qui repose sur l'observation des phénomènes célestes et organisé en vue d'obtenir interprétations et prédictions des événements humains, collectifs ou individuels. Elle est depuis Kepler, puis Newton, à distinguer nettement de l'astronomie et plus généralement de la physique, décrivant et prédisant avec précision des phénomènes naturels. Des scientifiques rigoureux comme Kepler ne l'ont pas moins pratiquée officiellement à la demande des puissants... assurant ainsi quelques subsides à leurs recherches.

Die Astrologie (griechisch αστρολογία, wörtlich die Sternenkunde [von altgr. ἄστρον [ástron], „Stern, Gestirn“, und λόγος [lógos], „Rede, Begriff, Lehre“], nicht zu verwechseln mit „Astronomie“ –  griechisch αστρονομία, wörtlich die Gesetzmäßigkeit der Sterne [von altgr. ἄστρον [ástron], „Stern, Gestirn“, und νόμος [nómos], „Brauch, Gesetz“]) ist die systematisch betriebene anthropozentrisch-mythologische Deutung der Stellung bestimmter Himmelskörper (insbesondere der Gestirne des Sonnensystems) und wird der Esoterik zugerechnet. Die Betrachtungsweise der Astrologie kann auch als topozentrisch bezeichnet werden, d. h. auf den Standpunkt des Betrachters auf der Erdoberfläche bezogen, da die Elemente eines  Horoskops sich auf einen irdischen Ort und Zeitpunkt beziehen. Eine Ausnahme bilden spezielle heliozentrische Ansätze, bei denen die Stellungen der Planeten (einschließlich der Erde, dafür ohne Sonne und Mond) von der Sonne aus bewertet werden.

Astrologia (z gr. αστρολογία = άστρον + λόγος, dosłownie "nauka o gwiazdach") – badanie położenia ciał niebieskich przy założeniu, że istnieje bezpośredni związek między zjawiskami na niebie a losem poszczególnych ludzi i wydarzeniami na Ziemi. Astralistyka postuluje, że we wszystkich kulturach świata zjawiska meteorologiczne, astralne, kosmiczne wywierają na ludzi przemożny wpływ, człowiek uważa je za znaczące lub decydujące o jego losie.Od astrologii odróżnia się astrolatrię, czyli kult gwiazd i planet, uważanych za demony bóstwa lub ich siedziby.
