The Association of Supervisory Staff, Executives and Technicians (ASSET), was a British trade union, chiefly representing supervisors in the metal working and transport industries. It was formed from the National Foremen's Association, founded in 1918.In 1929 the National Foremen's Association merged with the Amalgamated Managers' and Foremen's Association, which was active in the mining industry. In 1942 the union changed its name to the Association of Supervisory Staff and Engineering Technicians and in 1946 it changed again to the Association of Supervisory Staff, Executives and Technicians.

Un actif est ce que possède l'entreprise (l'emploi des ressources de l'entreprise). Un actif est un élément identifiable du patrimoine d’une entité ou agent économique (ménage, entreprise,...) ayant une valeur économique positive, c'est à dire générant une ressource que l'entité contrôle du fait d'événements passés et dont cette entité attend un avantage économique futur (art.211.1 du Plan comptable Général français). La définition selon les normes internationales est presque identique. L'actif net comptable corrigé est une méthode d'évaluation de la valeur de l'entreprise qui se déduit de la somme des capitaux propres et des provisions.

Die Aktiva zeigen die Verwendung der Finanzmittel auf und sind Bestandteil der Bilanz eines Wirtschaftssubjekts.Die Aktiva werden üblicherweise auf der linken Seite einer Bilanz aufgezeigt. Ihr Gegenstück bilden die Passiva, die auf der rechten Seite der Bilanz ausgewiesen werden. Die Aktivaseite zeigt die Mittelverwendung auf, Passiva die Mittelherkunft.Die Bezeichnung "Aktiva" als Ersatz für "Aktivseite" hat sich eingebürgert. Bilanzen, die mit diesem Begriff versehen sind, sind jedoch streng genommen widerrechtlich, da laut § 266 HGB, der die genaue Aufstellung und Nomenklatur der Bilanz festlegt, nur den Begriff Aktivseite kennt.

Asset, termine inglese traducibile in italiano con il termine cespite. Il termine è usato per indicare i valori materiali e immateriali facenti capo ad un Proprietà. Nello stato patrimoniale coincidono con le attività. Nell'information technology coincidono con il complesso di hardware, software e know-how consolidato di proprietà dell'impresa. Gli asset possono essere dismessi, e secondo le normative vigenti in termini di bilancio, devono essere svalutati e/o ammortizzati all'avvarerarsi di certe condizioni. Recentemente si è discusso, ed è un tema ancora aperto, relativamente agli "asset biologici", di particolare rilevanza per le aziende di servizi, per indicare il valore delle risorse umane presenti in una impresa. Tale tema non può percorrere i comuni percorsi di accertamento in bilancio in quanto le risorse umane non appartengono all'impresa, ma è di particolare interesse per la valorizzazione di imprese il cui capitale umano permette di raggiungere determinati risultati e profitti.
