Approche (typographie)
En
typographie, l'approche est l'espace entre deux lettres consécutives. On distingue :l'approche de groupe, règle générale d'espacement des
caractères pour l'ensemble des lettres d'une
police dimensionnable ;l'approche de paire, espacement particulier à certaines paires de caractères spécifiques ; l'approche entre certaines lettres peut même être nulle ou négative comme dans VA et TA. Lorsque les lettres se touchent telles que Œ ou Æ celles-ci forment un seul élément typographique qu'on nomme
ligature. Les approches d'une police sont regroupée dans une
table d'approche. Suivant le cas, on parle d'une approche normale, serrée ou large.
