RE/Search Publications is a United States magazine and book publisher, based in San Francisco, founded and edited by V. Vale in 1980. It was the successor to Vale's earlier punk rock fanzine Search & Destroy (1977 –  1979), started with $100 from Allen Ginsberg and Lawrence Ferlinghetti. RE/Search itself began as a tabloid-sized magazine. Following the third issue, issues 4 and 5 were collected as a single volume, a "special book issue". Subsequent issues all retained the book format.

Forschung ist die methodische und systematische Suche nach neuen Erkenntnissen mittels Kombination von Produktionsfaktoren. Der wichtigste Produktionsfaktor ist dabei das Wissen. Forschung wird in der Regel im wissenschaftlichen Rahmen betrieben. Sie trägt zur Erweiterung menschlichen Wissens bei und stützt sich dabei auf Altbekanntes oder versucht, bisherige Systeme, Regeln, Theorien zu widerlegen, um ein neues Verständnis von den Phänomenen in unserer Umwelt zu erlangen. Wesentlich für den Erkenntniszuwachs bzw. der Wissenserweiterung ist die objektive Neuheit des erforschten Wissens.

Het is een manier om ergens achter te komen. Dit kan op heel veel manieren. Via het lezen van boeken, het doen van een experiment of bijvoorbeeld het houden van een enquête.

研究 (けんきゅう) とは、ある特定の物事について、(1)人間の知識を集めて考察し、(2)実験、観察、調査などを通して調べて、その物事についての事実を深く追求する一連の過程のことである。語義としては「研ぎ澄まし究めること」の意。上記のうち、(1)のタイプの研究は英語ではstudyに相当し、人文学系の研究の多くがこれにあたる。このタイプの研究をする人は、学者(student; scholar)と呼ばれることが多い。一方、(2)のタイプの研究は英語ではresearchに相当し、科学的研究がこれにあたる。このタイプの研究をする人は、学者というよりも研究者(researcher)・科学者(scientist)と呼ぶ方が適している。日本語では、これら2つの異なる知的活動がどちらも同じ「研究」と呼ばれるため、誤解と混乱を引き起こしている。
