Apocryphes bibliques
On qualifie d’apocryphe (du grec / apókryphos, « caché ») un écrit « dont l'authenticité n'est pas établie » (Littré). Dans le domaine biblique, l'expression désigne, à partir de la construction des canons, un écrit considéré comme non authentique parce que jugé par les autorités religieuses comme non inspiré par Dieu. Cependant, saint Jérôme nommait « apocryphes » les livres deutérocanoniques de l’Ancien Testament et les considérait comme non-canoniques.

Late Latin apocryphus from Greek apokryphos "hidden," the adjective from apokrypha, plural of apokryphon "document of unknown origin." This noun is based on apokryptein "hide away" (apo- "away (from)" + kryptein "to hide"). "Kryptein" also gave us "cryptic" via Greek kryptikos, from the participle kryptos "hidden." "Cryptography," cryptonym "secret name," and the prefix crypto- "hidden, secret," as in cryptofascist "closet fascist"—all share the same origin. The mysterious planet made of kryptonite, Krypton, home of the comic character Superman, derives its name here, too.
