兩性 (化學)
在化學，兩性的物質是指既可跟酸反應，又能跟鹼反應的。例子有氨基酸、蛋白質、水及許多金屬如鋅、錫、鋁和鈹。氧化鋅（ZnO）跟pH值不同的溶液的反應是不同的：在酸： ZnO + 2H+ → Zn2+ + H2O在鹼： ZnO + 2OH- + H2O → [Zn(OH)4]2-這種反應可以用來分開不同的正離子，例如鋅和錳。
