Amphetamine (USAN, abbreviated from alpha-methylphenethylamine) or amfetamine (INN) is a psychostimulant drug of the phenethylamine class that produces increased wakefulness and focus in association with decreased fatigue and appetite.

Jest on mieszaniną racemiczną dwóch odmian prawoskrętnej (2S)(+)-1-fenylo-2-aminopropanu (dekstroamfetamina) i lewoskrętnej (2R)(-)-1-fenylo-2-aminopropanu (lewoamfetamina), które różnią się działaniem fizjologicznym.
