amblypygi

Amblypygi is an order of invertebrate animals belonging to the class Arachnida, in the subphylum Chelicerata of the phylum Arthropoda. Amblypygids are also known as tailless whip scorpions (see also whip scorpion). The name "amblypygid" means "blunt rump", a reference to a lack of the telson ("tail") carried by related species.As of 2002, approximately 5 families, 17 genera and 136 species have been described. They are found in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide. Some species are subterranean; many are nocturnal. During the day, they may hide under logs, bark, stones, or leaves. They prefer a humid environment.

Die Geißelspinnen (Amblypygi) sind eine Ordnung der Kieferklauenträger und zugleich der Spinnentiere (Arachnida). Weltweit sind nur 100 Arten dieser Tiere bekannt, die eine Körpergröße von 10 bis 45 mm erreichen. Fast alle Geißelspinnen leben in den Tropen und Subtropen, die meisten in Regenwäldern. Im Mittelmeerraum kommen zwei Arten vor, eine davon auch in Europa.

ウデムシ科カニムシモドキ科 ウデムシ目 (Amblypygi) は、節足動物門鋏角亜門クモ綱に所属する分類群であり、カニムシモドキとも言われる。ただし、カニムシとは全くと言っていい程、似ていない。偏平で、丈夫な体と、横に張った長い足を持ち、その姿はちょっと他に比べるものがない迫力がある。小さいものでは体長5mmだが、大きいものは体長4cmを越え、しかも足は体長の二倍以上あるので、かなり大柄な動物である。体はおおよそはクモに似ている。頭胸部は平たく、丈夫な造りである。前方中央と左右とに目が配置する。鋏角は鎌状に近い鋏となり、歯が並んでいる。触肢はまず左右に大きく張り、そこから前方に向けた二節分で丈夫な鎌を形成する。鎌の内側には鋭い歯が並び、いかにも捕獲用に向いた造りになっている。
