Adhesive
An adhesive or stick on is a material, usually in a liquid or semi-liquid state, that adheres or bonds items together. Adhesives come from either natural or synthetic sources. The types of materials that can be bonded are vast but they are especially useful for bonding thin materials. Adhesives cure (harden) by either evaporating a solvent or by chemical reactions that occur between two or more constituents.

Adhésif
Un adhésif est un matériau qui permet de faire adhérer entre eux des objets. Selon la nature des objets à assembler (notamment son aspect de surface : rugosité, porosité), on utilise différents types d'adhésifs, dont la structure chimique va ou non réagir avec la surface des pièces assemblées.

Klej
Klej to materiał, dzięki któremu można bez obróbki mechanicznej trwale połączyć ze sobą różne powierzchnie. Kleje są zaliczane do materiałów czynnych powierzchniowo (podobnie jak farby, lakiery i detergenty), których cechą charakterystyczną jest zwiększanie adhezji.
Klejenie zasadniczo przebiega następująco: dwa elementy, które chce się połączyć ze sobą, należy pokryć warstwą kleju, docisnąć do siebie i odczekać aż klej je zwiąże. Niektóre kleje wymagają dodatkowej obróbki termicznej. Inne z kolei wymagają swoistej obróbki chemicznej - np. dwie łączone powierzchnie trzeba pokryć dwoma różnymi substancjami, które tworzą razem klej, lub odczekać po pokryciu określony czas, w trakcie którego klej reaguje wstępnie z powietrzem. Ponadto, wiele klejów wymaga wstępnego przygotowania powierzchni - zwykle jej umycia i wysuszenia - a czasami nadania jej struktury chropowatej.
