An actor (sometimes actress for female; see terminology) is a person who acts in a dramatic or comic production and who works in film, television, theatre, or radio in that capacity. The ancient Greek word for an "actor," (hypokrites), means literally "one who interprets"; in this sense, an actor is one who interprets a dramatic character.

The Hero Initiative, formerly known as A Commitment to Our Roots, or ACTOR, is the first federally recognized not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping comic book creators, writers and artists in need. Founded in late 2000 by a consortium of comic book and trade publishers including Marvel Comics, Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Wizard Entertainment, CrossGen Comics and Dynamic Forces Inc., the 501(c)(3) charity aims to assist comic creators with health, medical, and quality-of-life assistance.

Als Schauspieler bezeichnet man Personen, die mit den Mitteln der Sprache, der Mimik und Gestik oder Pantomimik etwas anderes als sich selbst – eine Rolle, d. h., in der Regel eine andere Person – leibhaftig verkörpern. Als Schauspieler werden solche Personen aufgefasst, die der schauspielerischen Tätigkeit regelmäßig (beruflich oder als Hobby), in einem bestimmten institutionellen Rahmen (z. B. im Theater, im Film oder Fernsehen), mit einem künstlerischen Anspruch sowie auf der Grundlage ausgiebiger Übung und/oder einer speziellen Ausbildung nachgehen und sich dabei u. a. nach Anweisung (Drehbuch, Regieanweisung) richten. Doch sind die hier genannten Referenzen nicht zwingend.

Un acteur (au féminin : une actrice) est un artiste qui incarne un personnage dans un film, dans une pièce de théâtre, à la télévision, à la radio, ou même dans des spectacles de rue. En plus de l'interprétation proprement dite, un acteur (ou « interprète ») peut aussi danser ou chanter, selon les besoins de son rôle.

New York Dolls är en amerikansk rockgrupp som grundades i början av 1970-talet. Bandet var aktivt under fem år, men lyckades inte uppnå framgång före det de hade splittrats. År 2004 återförenades bandet och gav ut en skiva 2006.

En skådespelare eller aktör (om kvinnor även skådespelerska eller aktris) är en person som gestaltar en roll i filmer, TV, teater, performance, radio, datorspel eller andra uppträdanden/föreställningar.
