In organic chemistry, the acryloyl group is the functional group with structure H₂C=CH–C(=O)–; it is the acyl group derived from acrylic acid. The preferred IUPAC name for the group is prop-2-enoyl, and it is also (less correctly) known as acrylyl or simply acryl. Compounds containing an acryloyl group can be referred to as "acrylic compounds".

Acryl (selten: Akryl) ist eine Sammelbezeichnung von chemischen Substanzen, die sich durch die Acrylgruppe (CH₂=CH–COR) auszeichnen (wie z. B. die Acrylsäure oder Acrylsäureester) beziehungsweise Polymere dieser Stoffe. Der Begriff wurde von lateinisch acer „scharf“ oder griechisch ákros „spitz“ wegen des scharfen Geruchs der Acrylsäure abgeleitet.

Akryl kan syfta på:

• Kemiska föreningar som innehåller akrylgruppen eller är härledda från den
• Plasterna polymetakrylsyrametylester och polyakrylnitril
• Färger som använder dessa plaster som bindemedel: akrylatfärg och akrylfärg
• Akrylfibrer, konstfibrer som innehåller polyakrylnitril

Acrylvezel, ook wel polyacryl, polyacrylonitril of kortweg acryl genoemd, is een synthetische vezel, die wordt verkregen uit polymerisatie van acrylonitril. Polyacryl vormt lange lineaire moleculen, die zeer geschikt zijn voor gebruik als (textiel)vezel.
