Achala
Achala acala (Sanskrit) [from a not + the verbal root cal to be moved, agitated] Immovable, not moving. As a masculine noun, a mountain, rock; also the number seven. As a proper noun, a name of Siva. As a feminine noun, the earth; also one of the ten stages or degrees of a bodhisattva in his progress toward buddhahood. Used in the Bhagavad-Gita (2:24) to describe the self in contradistinction to the not-self: "He is eternal, all-pervading, unchanging and immovable (achala)." Also a heroic charioteer on the side of the Kurus slain by Arjuna.
