Abortion
Abortion is defined as the termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to viability. An abortion can occur spontaneously, in which case it is usually called a miscarriage, or it can be purposely induced. The term abortion most commonly refers to the induced abortion of a human pregnancy.

Schwangerschaftsabbruch
Unter Schwangerschaftsabbruch (umgangssprachlich mit meist negativer Konnotation auch Abtreibung; medizinisch abruptio graviditatis) versteht man die absichtliche Entfernung oder Herbeiführung der Ausstoßung einer außerhalb des Mutterleibes noch nicht lebensfähigen, vitalen Leibesfrucht (Embryo oder Fetus) aus der Gebärmutter. Er dient der Beendigung einer unerwünschten oder die Gesundheit der Frau gefährdenden Schwangerschaft.

Avortement
L'avortement se définit comme l'interruption avant son terme du processus de gestation, c'est-à-dire le développement qui commence à la conception par la fécondation d'un ovule par un spermatozoïde formant ainsi un œuf, se poursuit par la croissance de l'embryon, puis du fœtus, et qui s'achève normalement à terme par la naissance d'un nouvel individu de l'espèce.

Abort
Abort, avbrytande av graviditet, betecknar inom medicinsk terminologi varje avbruten graviditet, och uppdelas i spontan abort (missfall) och provocerad abort alternativt inducerad abort. I mer vardagligt tal har abort kommit att beteckna endast provocerad abort, som är ett avbrytande av graviditeten på medicinsk eller kirurgisk väg. Man skiljer mellan terapeutisk abort, som utförs med hänsyn till moderns hälsa, och selektiv abort, där ett foster aborteras men där inget hot mot moderns medicinska hälsa finns.

Aborcja
Aborcja (od łac. abortio – poronienie) – termin potoczny oznaczający dokonanie sztucznego przerwania ciąży.
Aborcja to zabieg usuwający zarodek lub płód z macicy po zagnieżdżeniu. Środki wczesnoporonne, używane po stosunku (do 72 godzin), zapobiegają uwolnieniu komórek jajowych z jajników lub zapobiegają zapłodnieniu. Stosowane później zapobiegają zagnieżdżeniu się zarodka.
Samoistne przedwczesne zakończenie ciąży nazywane jest poronieniem (jeśli ma miejsce do 22 tygodnia ciąży) lub porodem przedwczesnym (jeśli ma miejsce po 22 tygodniu ciąży). W języku polskim nie używa się słowa aborcja w znaczeniu poronienie samoistne.
