Abasia (from Greek: a-, without and basis, step) is the inability to walk due to impaired muscle coordination. L'abasie est un symptôme décrit en neurologie et en psychiatrie. Il désigne l'impossibilité de marcher en l'absence de trouble moteur, sensitif ou de la coordination permettant de l'expliquer. On retrouve ce symptôme dans le syndrome dit "astasie-abasie" (ou maladie de Blocq, du nom d'un neurologue français, Paul Blocq), syndrome qui peut être observé en particulier chez des personnes âgées (avec alors phobie de chutes).

Bei der Abasie (griech.) handelt es sich um das Unvermögen zu gehen. Sie kann als psychisch bedingte Gangstörung auftreten sowie durch Erkrankungen des expyramidalen Systems (z. B.  Chorea Huntington, Wilson-Krankheit) und des Kleinhirns (Ataxie) oder Stirnhirns (Gangapraxie) verursacht werden.

L'abasìa è un disturbo funzionale dell'andatura (dalla lingua greca: a privativo; basis = cammino, marcia).L'abasìa è un'affezione di origine nervosa consistente nell'impossibilità o nella grande difficoltà nel camminare, causata dalla riduzione della coordinazione dei movimenti.Frequentemente è associata a difficoltà o incapacità di mantenere la stazione eretta. Può essere permanente se dovuta a cause organiche cerebrali (quali ictus) o transitoria come manifestazione di un sintomo nevrotico. Non deve essere confusa con l'atassia o la paralisi.
